In ancient Greece, Kairos was a son of Zeus who had a penchant for seizing the day and acting at the most opportune moments. He is visually represented in sculpture as an athletic male with winged shoes, at rest but simultaneously poised to act. The blogs listed above have been selected because like Kairos, they take advantage of the erasure of time and space barriers online to deliver thought- provoking and timely political commentary.

2007 Kairos Awards

The 2007 Kairos Awards recognize outstanding political weblogs that score best in seven evaluation criteria developed by undergraduate students studying rhetoric in a course on Weblog Advocacy at the University of Pittsburgh. During the Weblog Advocacy course, students will narrow the list of 13 semifinal blog nominees to three finalists, and the winner of the 2007 Kairos Awards will be announced June 19, 2007.

Nominees can be found to the left and are listed in order of their ranking at the current time.
