Nomination briefing for MyDDThe MyDD blog has many redeeming qualities that we are looking for in the Kairos Awards; it should meet all the categories of our evaluation criteria. Additionally, MyDD contains multiple aspects that make this blog unique from the others.
MyDD discusses political movement issues and includes several forms of work including polling, research, commentary, analysis, and activism. MyDD has four front page writers who all participate heavily in the political arena. For example, Jerome Armstrong’s resume includes participation in Jon Corzine’s ’05 campaign, Sherrod Brown’s campaign, and assisting in Howard Dean’s presidential efforts.
MyDD is a blog that is updated on a daily basis with three or four new posts a day. The four authors write their stories with a clear, precise, and understandable tone that makes this blog very easy to read. MyDD has a vast number of hyperlinks present on the site that lead to a variety of other sites. These sites include local state blogs, political forecasters, and political characters among others.
However, there are a few areas that this blog can improve in. Even though the posted stories do receive feedback, the response is often small. Some stories will have a tremendous amount of commentary while other stories will only have four or five. Another area that could be improved on in the MyDD is grammar. There are quite a few grammatical errors on the site.
Overall, MyDD is a great blogging site that reaches out to its readers. MyDD boasts many redeeming qualities that no other blogs include and excels in all the criteria necessary to present the Kairos award.
